How much boost?
How much boost can you run with a stock second gen B16 without any internal mods? If you need to modify the engine, what would be reommended on a limited budget? Thanks.
Depends on the turbo, and what you want...
I would stick with ~8psi on the stock B16. Limited budget would get some better rods; but unless you're looking for way over 200hp, I wouldn't.
The problem isn't really the psi you are going to be running, it's the tuning. A poorly tuned engine can and will blow even at 5psi. The same engine, well tuned can easily handle 150% of that...
Get it tuned, make sure your fuel/engine management is set up correctly; and you'll be set for 8psi easily...

With a limited budjet dont buy rods, spend it on a standalone, injectors, and some tunning. Just get a head gasket that will lower the compression to at least 9:1 and you will be able to a few more lbs of boost saftly.
