Default How much am i going to gain with a bigger exhaust and downpipe?

This is my dynorun.

Integra GSR 97 @ 7.75 psi. intercooled. I know it's not much, i did no tuning at at all. I use the 2" downpipe, no cat, and 2.25" DC sports catback exhaust. I plan on upgrading the exhaust to 3" front to back , but about how much hp can I expect to gain?

When I upgraded from a 2.5" to 3" all the way from the downpipe back, I pick up another 10 whp. Now at 7.5psi I dynoed at 266whp then 277whp after upgrade. My torque also went up from 190ft/lbs to 200ft/lbs. Expect alot.

Dont forget when I dynoed the 2nd time it was also 104 deg here in texas so I expect to get alot more now that is much cooler here.

I'm assumig you are o a greddy kit cuz ofthe numbers ya got? If so first thing to do get rid of the 2" twig and replace with a 2.5" after the elbow piece. Get it fabricated at a muffler shop. I dynoed my greddy kit at 7.8 psi or 7.5 as well same **** really with just the downpipe upgrade and with an HKS hyper **** which is only 2.1" and got 214 hp and 165 tq to the wheels. So I know there should be a definite gain going to a 3".. DO IT!!I am hoping to see a 20hp gain to the motor ..again hopefully

Is your w/g dump routed back into the downpipe or is it vented to atomsphere. What else do you have, give us your setup. Seems to be more than just exhaust.

I use the internal wastegate.

-Stock 97 GSR
-Greddy turbo kit
-Greddy fcu ( blue box)
-Holley 255 lph in tank fuel pump
-2" downpipe
-no cat
-DC 2.25" catback exhaust.

That's all for the engine.

I took my compression today and I found why I was not producing as much power as I was supposed to, cylinder 1 has 125 pounds, ans cylinder 3 has 115 pounds. The engine has overheated because of a defect of the thermostat.

well, the low comp readings certainly will not help ur hp readings...sorry to hear.

also, greddy kits are notorious for their less than desirable hp readings on a gsr when compared to other kits.

Could you explain why you say that ? besides the 2" downpipe, i don't see why it would produce less power. I saw the turbo from the DRAG kit for the Civic SI , and I noticed that my td05-18G is almost as big, if not as big.

greddy turbo isn't as big (read: doesn't flow as well) as the drag3 turbo's.

greddy downpipe is tiny, cause its meant to be used with the stock cat.

damn that is some low compression for a gsr .. I hope you aren't running stock pistons and it's giving you that... besides that even if you were like 9.0:1 I don't think compression would be that low..

wow, i didnt know greddy kits produced that much less numbers, im looking for about 230 whp at 8 psi in my ls once i go from 2.5" to 3" exhuast. getting a bigger downpipe and 3" inch exhuast should help a lot though since thats a big downside to it.

I think they are talking about the downpipe itself and not the dump tube.
