How many hp gain per # of boost on average? what is a safe boost level for a stock B18? I have a 99 gsr with 274 hp @ 8 pnds tuned on crome. The tuner said I could run higher boost safely up to 10 pounds. Thoughts?

never once was any specific turbo mentioned...how do you know what kind of power he can make at X psi?? On less than 11psi (stock MAP limit) it is entirely possible to make 300-350whp on a stock LS without sacrificing drivability...there are several turbos that would work well for you, but there are a few that would work better than others....PM me if you want more info

goto a different tuner. Whenever you "UP' the boost, you want to retune it. Chances are yes it may be close but there is a chance that it is way off.

To answer the original question, on a stock B18b w/ a T3/T04E 57trim .63 ar turbo, you could run as much as 14psi without really having to worry too much...that would put you in the 350whp range...its been done before.
But for reliabilities sake, you should stay in the 10-11psi range....whatever the stock map sensor allows you to tune up to...that will make more than enough power for you to have fun

Re: (Schister66)
He said hes got a gsr which i would assume hes not talking about a B18B ls motor, you could throw as much boost as you want in a ls
As for a gsr i would stick to no more than 11lbs just for reliability and so that you dont have to upgrade your map sensor, unless you plan on more boost in the future.

300whp @ 7psi = 300whp @ 15psi
Both examples put the same amount of stress on the motor if their tunes are of the same quality.

Re: (ForceFed_Motorsports)
So what would be the maximum safe HP for b18 motors stock? I've heard from a few different people that 300 was the max that you'd want to do to keep it safe, although others have done more and had no problems, just as a general rule.

Re: (Rooftop voter)
I've put over 10,000 miles on my b18 and I drive it pretty hard every day. ~7,000 are at 250hp and the rest are at 357. It's all in how well the motor has been taken car of and the tune. You will be fine.
