couple questions for those more experienced. turbo sizing.
alright, first and foremost the power goal is 475whp to 500whp on 93 octane gas.
the set up is as follows
B18B GE sleeved 84mm
PR3 head w/ 5 angle stock sized valves
stock 89mm crank polished/balanced
eagle H beam rods
pistons yet to be determined ~9:1 CR*
custom top mount manifold by rmf designed to retain a/c
hogged out "R" manifold or whatever i can get a deal on*
CTR cams
obd1 crome pro realtime
asterick items are not yet in my closet.
now, with that out of the way, so i can possibly be helped, i am having a little trouble with turbo sizing.
i am thinking the PT SC61 will be about the size i need and will make about the power i want at around 18-20psi.
does anyone have any BETTER suggestions? im not a cheapskate, but i would like to keep the price under 1800 bucks or so for the turbo. the SC61s float around here for 800 bucks so that is attractive.
also, what size wastegate flange should i have him put on the manifold? is 38mm enough? i think i saw a 42 or 45mm tial as well....
going into 00 civic coupe with Y1 b16 cable tranny with quaife LSD not that those matter.

Man U FTW
I would go w/ a 44mm wastegate on the topmount since your turbo is going to be fairly large...
Also for a turbo choice, its a bandwagon choice, but a GT35R would fit your needs....i'm interested to see what other turbos are suggested...

purpose for the car is simple. its a toy. a toy geared more for the strip. i dont want it to be totally undrivable and id like it to be into boost by 3k and make peak power at or BEFORE 8500rpm. not quite sure if that is totally un realistic.

Re: (B20TDC2)
it almost looks like i might want a little more turbo. i dont want to be at my limit at 500. i want my snail and my bottom end to be kicked back and relaxed sipping their beverages of choice at boost somewhere in the mid 20s at more than 480whp.

when i sold the car the new owner got a new sc61 (mine was about out of it) and made right about 500 out of it on pump and 655 on race gas @27-28psi. the turbo has the capability.

Re: (B20TDC2)
with a S258 he could get more HP at a lower psi because the efficenticy is uber more the S364 would also blow that out the water an the holset hybrid if you wanted could push 30psi(if wanted) at about 3.5k to 4.5k BUT will start chokin at around 8k i believe.
to the OP: remember CFM's get you power and different turbos supply different CFM's at different psi's

I seen somewhere else you dont want your turbo to be maxed at 480...well a t3/67 or t4/67 would be 2 of my choices.
