Default How to lower your iat

Last night i went to the track. its a1/8th mile track my car is tuned to 15psi. On the first pass i ran a 8.0 on 6 psi. which i was happy with for 6 psi . the next pass on 10 psi was slow and all breaking up a running rich. I tried another run same thing just no power. I knew something was wrong so i looked at my datalogs my iat are way to high. my first run iat was 90f not that bad around where i tuned it at. next runs where at 150f that is no where near where when the car was tuned. so i put a bag of ice on the intake and intercooler for about a hour went out the the track ran perfect came in the pits let the car cool off went back out and broke a axle
Car runs 100% as long as my iat dont sky rocket but setting in line waiting for 50 cars to race my iat just keep climbing.
I know the reason my car ran like crap was crome was taking out 5* of timing due to the iat being so high i could change that but would that be safe
So what can i do to lower my iat when idle slow moving line at the track
i try to cut the car off as much as possible.

Put it a couple inches before the throttle body.

I had a plate welded 6" pre-throttle body , made a gasket out of a
piece of bicycle tube and used some 10-24 screws with a
rubber washer. Problem solved.

your ecu, however, still believes your IAT's are truly that high.

That's the main reason why i moved it,
to eliminate heat soak and get a more
accurate reading.

yes understand that

It seems every time i go to the track i run in to this. never on the street and i think that is why my car starts to studer and not rev up fast due to ecu retarding timing 5 deg. i can change this value i just wander it i should.
