what is a normal price for a shop to charge to put a new headgasket on a gsr?

depends upon region. more than likely about a couple of man-hours of labor.

stockish, somewhere in the 4-5 hour range... plus parts, machine shop labor(varies) fluids/flushes, enviromental fee, and any extras like plugs and gaskets. We always send the heads out to be checked, but we're just an auto repair shop so most of the stuff we see is in the 100k range and there is usually other damage to the heads from ignorance and neglect

correct!!!

Most "labor price" are for stock, oem replacement meaning not turbo/manifold/downpipe to remove. No head studs to fight with, and alot less vacuum lines to wrestle with

I know here at my shop a turbo B series is an easy 4-500 bucks, you get what you pay for as well.

but with fluids, resurfacing, inspection, and time its not that bad of a price in the end.

if they tell me 500 they better change the water pump and timing belt while they're at it.
