Default How to gap plugs

how do you make the gap smaller with the gapper? hit it against something? push it against something? everytime it gets to a smaller gap, when i check the new size it seems really easy to push it to a higher gap size, am i not doing it tight enough?

I usually push against the driveway or a brick wall, because the coarse surface allows the ground tab to get wedged in and not slip. Some are easier to bend then others too. Cheap copper plugs are usually real easy, but I just put some NGK Iridium plugs in and I had to push pretty damn hard to bend the ground tab.

tap the ground strap against a hard flat surface lightly...if it didn't reduce the gap hit it a little harder. Keep doing this until the gap gets smaller, but don't go for the gold the first time you do it.

They make gapping tools. It makes this a little easier.

But in the end I always lose mine, so I use the ground anyway.
