Default How do you feel about doubling up OEM head gaskets?

Can you guys please tell me what your experiences are! I'm going to need to drop some serious compression when I throw this new block in my car. With a stock 3-layer head gasket the compression will be 10.6:1 and this is a bit high (USDM B18C1 head on JDM B16 block) for boost. Granted this is only a temporary situation until I build my B20 up but I still want the motor to last until I do swap out the B16 late this summer. I'm thinking my only choices here are to double up on OEM head gaskets which would be 0.058 in. thickness, dropping the compression down to 9.84:1 OR I get a an aftermarket one that'll be around .05 or so. What are your opinions on the notion of aftermarket head gaskets and such? Who should I go with, and what thickness????

Thanks in advance guys!

Anthony

Me personally i don't like the idea of stacking 2 gaskets together, but it works for some....I wouldn't do it on my set-up though.

We had to pay quite a bit extra for a .076" thickness gasket in 81.5mm bore. It was like $130 instead of $80 from Cometic.

It was on a NA motor where the block had already been decked .035"/.036".

Wouldnt using a thicker hg decrease reliability becuase of all of the pressure on the hg?

What's wrong with 10.6:1 CR turbo? It'll haul serious *** once you get it tuned. Just keep the boost down until you've got the chance to tune it on a dyno with a wideband.

SCE is just another manufacturer of good quality gaskets, they are all copper based metal and come in various thicknesses also, use hylomar spray or tube of sealant, some SCE's are reusable. Also think mr gasket came out with a stackable gasket for imports, havent heard the word on them yet.
