Default How do I know which is in/out for the coolant lines?

My turbo is both oil and water cooled, how do I know which line is the inlet and which is the outlet? Does it matter?

i dont think it matters, run it off the throttle body coolant lines.....either way, the turbo's water chambers are closed off from the oil and should have no prefrence to flow....

Only prob i ran into with my watercooling my turbo was the waterjackets in the turbo were worn and old, so when i would get on it hard, and the coolant level psi would go up, it would seep past the oil seals and into the exhaust portion of the turbo and come out in huge puffs of white smoke in my exhaust, if u was on an incline, u could see green water dripping out my exhaust (its straight 3" pipe, no cat, no muffler)..........so if u have similar results, just disconnect the lines...

its safe to run a watercooled turbo w/o the water.....just turbo time it a little longer.
give it good cool down time, and it will last u just as long.

later my brother.
