Default How do I know if it has gone bad?

How would I know if my MAP sensor has gone to ****? I can go WOT at full boost just fine, but once I hit VTEC, I get a CEL 03 for "an open/short in the MAP sensor or a bad MAP sensor." A local shop told me it's probably the blue box I'm using, but a grip of people elsewhere said I'll need a new sensor. I trust you guys more.

thanx

As far as I know if the stock map sees boost it will throw a code. I put on a missing link with my turbo kit and never threw a code with 11 psi. If you didn't install check valves or anything like that to trick the map into not seeing boost it would probably throw a code.

I'm using the blue box, so maybe it's a bad blue box? But I don't understand why I only throw a code when I crossover into VTEC. Other than that, I can make full boost just fine, but I HAVE to stay out of vtec lest I want to throw a CEL 3.

there are ways to test the map sensor depends on the car/yr. Get or borrow a helms manual if you want to test it.
