Default How do boost controllers really work?

I've searched, and I still can't find anything on how boost controllers physically work. I know they are used to prevent boost spike and boost creep, but if I knew the actual mechanics involved in this process it would be very helpful. And if it's already been covered, please point me to the right thread.

Thanks

They use a combination of solenoids, and electronic switches to hold the actual boost pressure from the wastegate.

The most effective ones will hold the boost pressure completely from the wastegate (the gate see's 0 PSI) until the turbo spools up to the preset boost level of the controller. This allows the turbo to spool up faster compared to just using the wastegate.

The high end boost controllers also factor in settings for what gear your in, or RPM to adjust the amount of boost the gate sees.

I understand what you're saying but how do boost controllers work in a sense to prevent boost creep or boost spike; limit boost instead of prolonging it? I'm trying to set my internal wastegate at 7psi and make it stay there.
