I have the apex 2 chamber valve, and while it works very nicely overall, and it's unique adjustability allows you to set it so it only opens when letting off under boost like it should, so your enigne never takes in unfiltered air, it does have to be occasionally oiled to work properly. I just take off the tube leading into the piston chamber and add oil there. The oil doesn't get sucked out or anything, it never gets into the charge piping.

On the subject of actually needing a bov, I didn't have one at one point, and the more boost I would make, the more quickly the turbo would decelerate upon shifting, so I would always end up having to slowly spool all over again. I don't know exactly what kind of stresses that puts on the various parts of the turbo, but it was annoying as f, not to mention that horrible gurgling whistling sound of the turbo gagging on it's own boost..

It has to do more with pressure pulses from surging more than anything. In a way, its not unlike pre-ignition/detonation's severe pressure pulses bouncing around. As mentioned above, the pulses apply torque to the compressor wheel (air shooting in/out of the blades), creates pulses, and wobbles the shaft. Although the torque applied isn't much, esp. since the centripetal forces of a shaft spinning 100k+ rpm is very great, you still don't want something spinning that fast to break the oil film and grab hold of the solid bronze bushing on either end.

(to topic starter) Honestly, it sounds more like your laziness is what killed the first turbo, not necessarily compressor surge. If you are too lazy to pop a hood, spray some parts, then close it up - chances are you're too lazy to make sure the rest of the system is operating 100%. As posted above, there is no easy/cheap fix. Dish out money or time, or risk it.

again im not asking what killed the first turbo, i know what killed it and it was looked at by a very good mechanic, so people if that's all you wanna talk about then leave

im not too lazy to pop the hood and spray some parts, i just dont like doing more then i have to in the mornings, alot like most people i would think, im not a morning person, which is the entire purpose of my post, finding something to lubricate the bov and keep it from freezeing
