How bad is it to boost on a basemap
its bad, go get it tuned
there's not a single reason you could come up with to boost the car without getting a proper tune.
base maps are just that, a base starting point to get the car running, idling, and drivable to be able to get to your tuner. Only a tuner who knows what he is doing can make your boosted car run how it it suppose to and keep it safe.
GET IT TUNED..... or suffer the consequences. PERIOD.

well I thought it would be ok. And it was, for 2 days...
After removing the headon my GSR I found cracked ring lands on one of my pistons.
Fuelsetup: BX 8:1 fmu
stock injectors
uberdata basemap
255lph in tank
T3/t04e 57 trim .50 cold .63 hot @ 6psi and it must have lasted about 200 miles of boost before it let go.
I feel so stupid.

I had a pile of **** 91 integra (235K miles) running 11psi on a basemap. I never tuned it, and it raped for 4 months until I sold it. The basemap was made by an experienced tuner, so I was fine with it. Of course it's not recommended, but it's not an instant BOOYA from the motor if someone that makes basemaps for a living makes the map.
Simply put, it's a gamble. Too many variables, too many tuners, one unique motor. Only sure way to get things right for YOUR motor, is to get YOUR motor tuned, any and everything else is just a guesstimate.
