Default Hondata Woes?

About a year ago, I had a JRSC installed w/ the 8psi upgrade to my Si with hondata.
I made 231 whp.

I then went turbo, and sold my JRSC to my friend, also with an Si.

He finally recently got it put on his car. Keep in mind this is basically the SAME car. Same size injectors, same mods (CAI, Same style headers)..

He made 175 whp with the SAME setup. Thats 56 whp less! Any suggestions?

Needless to say, he is not very happy with the outcome...

Your input will be appreciated

I'm going to guess lack of Hondata or major belt slippage issues, if not both. Does he have a boost gauge hooked up to it?

yes he has hondata s200 w/ boost option. There is no belt slippage. We cant figure it out..

What I had suggested was to get my old map from autothority (the place that dyno'd it) and have that map installed and take it to a tuner and have him fine tune it. it should pretty much then be the same thing, no?

175 hp on 8spi??

something is way wrong. you should be making more than that with the 6spi pulley on it.

hows the fuel pressure and who tuned it??? did you guys just put in your old maps or did he have to retuned on his car?

What about exhaust, are you both running the same kind? If he only has a muffler, and you had a full catback, that could make a difference

Exactly. He needs to get the car tuned for his setup.

There are many variables that need to be accounted for, and the Hondata system is probably last on the list.

Power is determined by several things (provided the engine is in good working condition).

Correct ignition timing
Correct air fuel ratio
Cam timing
Boost level

For example:

What is was the base ign timing on your car when tuned and verified by a timing light.
What is the timing on your friends car.

What is the difference in fuel pressure between your two vehicles? What is the difference in air fuel ratio when you dynoed.

Where are the cams timed at in both your cars?

What is the measured boost level in both your cars.

Get all those checked and verified, and only then look at retuning the Hondata system
