Default my hondata tuning situation.. HELP!!

okay here's the situation....

I got my hondata 2b tuned a while back.. I payed about $400 for part throttle and dyno tuning.. The problem is, the part throttle maps feel kinda shitty.. Every now and then, the engine hesitates at certain rpm points both during normal cruising and light throttle pressure.. It seems like at those certain points, there's not enough fuel, thus causing the hesitation..

Originally, when I had the chip programmed to run open loop all the time, the hesitation was pretty much non existant and barely noticable. But after getting the chip reburned to run in closed loop (normal operation), the hesitation became more noticable and bothersom.. I had the chip redone after getting a new o2 sensor, since I was told that it was the culprit, causing the hesitation situation..

My question to u guys is... Should I go back to the tuner and demand him to retune my part throttle maps at his expense since he didn't do a complete and satisfactory job in the 1st place..?? I was also assured that my car would run smooth and fine.. All I want out of this is to get a quality job done and get my car running normal w/o the hesitation..

Another tidbit, what else could be the culprit behind this hesitation, besides the questionable part throttle tuning??

if they assured you, then definitely don't settle for what you think is less than smooth and fine.

If they tuned the partial throttle on the dyno, that would account for the stutters in the map. The best way to tune partial throttle is by street wideband tuning. You get the most accurate method of placing precise loads on your engine in doing so. Its possible to tune partial throttle on the dyno, but it takes some time.

Please make sure there are no other variables that may come into play before blaming the tuner.

I do not know who tuned your car, but just make sure it's the program before you start pointing fingers.

FYI- Street tuning is always better because you're getting a real load on the motor.

i'm not blaming or pointing fingers at anyone... I'm just kinda bothered by the hesitation problems considering the amount of money I spent for tuning... btw, The part throttle tuning was done on the street and was actually done by payn..

i'm gonna take the car out tommorrow and take notes where the hesitation occurs and bring the data to payn to look at during the week.. hopefully he can help resolve the problem so we can all be happy, especially my engine ..

Tom is a good guy, he'll take care of you.

BTW- how long ago was your car tuned? And did it behave like this when you first got it back??
