Default hondata and timing

Is anyone having a problem with datalogging timing on the hondata. I'm running 21 degrees on my timing map but my hondalogger is showing 31+ degrees. I hope the logger is wrong. lol

That is total advance, meaning the numerical value displayed in rom editor + your static base timing.

the value in rom editor is total advance. is it not?

the value in rom editor is total advance. is it not? - thats what I thought

My base timing on my distributor is 20 degrees and on my table 21 degrees. So that would be 41 degrees.

Correct the timing in rom editor is the dynamic advance. The timing that appears in hondalogger is your base timing + dynamic advance for your total advance. So,

base timing+dynamic timing=total timing

If you datalog just find your timing values when under boost, then apply the simple equation you should be right on target for your total timing.

base timing+dynamic timing=total timing

20+21 would be 41 degrees from 19psi-28psi, my hondalogger shows 32-34 degrees. I've been told the hondalogger gets a littel off above 6000 rpm.

It is off a bit, but it shouldnt be that much. I just checked a few datalogs from previous cars vs rom editor maps for those specific cars, the timing values were essentially on point using the equation.

Isnt hondata the best

You would think after everyone hypes it up as being the "best" street standalone that it would be easier to figure out the timing without having to guess and say "its a little off". Timing under boost is pretty damn important if you ask me.

Be sure to keep boost cut "off"

the timing displayed isn't a little off, its way off! i timed it with a light under the hood under full 16psi boost and timing shows excessive advance in hondalogger/romeditor real time but really sticks to what is in the tables in reality.

the tables in the romeditor display show total timing! So, if it says 18deg at idle that is your total timing (ie if your timing light says 18 at idle, there is nothing added to your mechanical ignition advance). it is not 36 as stated above.

in boost if your tables say 24deg full boost then your timing light should show 24 deg assuming your base timing matches your timing real time.

I only assumed it was total advanced displayed in hondalogger since the timing values I almost always see follow the equation. I was under the impression that the values in rom editor were the total advance, but the hondalogger would always say otherwise. The equation was my best mathematical interpretation of the situation.

Yeah i really have to stop trying to be an engineer every time something goes wrong, I always want to apply an equation to justify my thoughts...lol.
