Default Hondata Pocket programer power transistor.

Does anyone know the power transistor's part # that usually fries on the board? I need the part # to replace it.

u can see its got a silver face. there is not a part number on it though, just some wierd company name i think.

the other 'power transistors' were 2N4491. Maybe that's what this one is. I can't afford to guess though, its not my unit.

What causes that transistor to fry?

When you power up the programer it is defalted to 25V, when you only need 5V. So what happend was that the emulator was left in the programer when we powered it up and it fried the power transistor. What needs to be done is leave the emulator out, power it up, and download map. When you download the map, it will drop the voltage from 25v down to 5v where you need to be.

Art.. Cal HonData, they will send you out a new programmer.. Doug informed me that they are aware of the problem, and have ordered a bunch of them...

My Programmer burned while I was actually running the car on my Emulator..

Doug told me that if you use them for more than ten minutes at a time, they can get hot and overheat, also causing this failure..

I am suppossed to get mine Tomorow morning..

Well this was my new programer and I was dumb enough to leave the emulater in there and it burned. I was totally my fault and I dont want to send this back because of that. I would rather just change the part since we have infinate transistors from Falcongsr. I cant belive I did that twice!!
So, does anyone have the part #?

Alright, I'll give it a shot.. I'm not very familiar w/ electronics but I'll read what I can off of the resistor..

- 2n
44U1
M7??

That's how it looks in each row. The last row has some strange symbols, so I used ? marks.. On another note.. This pocket programmer I have for some reason seems to have stopped working. Is there anything else that could cause it to stop working properly? Nothing looks burnt on the board, and it simply just stopped working on day...?

ok so you're telling me the resistor on the side with almost no other components says
2N
44?1 ...and the other similar looking components on the other side have the same markings on them? if you could please verify that for me i would appreciate it. It makes sense, i just need confirmation.

No problem man.. I don't actually think it's a U... it's probably some other damn symbol that looks alot like it.. Although I could be wrong...
