Hondata + intronics emulator.
Gonna setup my emulater...can't find any info regarding this...........Hondata RomEditor manual has a little section on it...but it just says
"the car lighter adapter must be rewired for a constant 12V if using the 12-9v adapter."
Ok, looks like I need a cig lighter 9 volt adapter too...don't see that mentioned anywhere. Now to rewire the cig lighter for constant 12 volts..i guess just use the helms and find out which the switched +12v wire for the lighter is..and replace it with a contant 12v to it? Sounds simple enough, but i cant find a single post relating to someone who's actually set it up and rewired their lighter...and got the adapter that's not mentioned anywhere (radio shack?) I know there are several constat 12v (one being the radio)...just use that wire? Thanks.

Its not safe to have your cigerette lighter wired hot all the time. You will be drawing current from your battery and eventually (over like 2 weeks) your car will be dead if you dont drive it.
You "should" have gotten a 12v wall adapater with your hondata. I would simply do the burning with the emulator near a 120v outlet and plug the 12v converter in, or even better yet get a converter that allows for the cigerette lighter to be turned into a 120v source, then plug the 12v converter into that. I use this method when i tune since i dont have a battery for my laptop.

The emulator does come with a wall jack....this doesn't help me though..I'm sure you know the purpose is to emulate the eprom while driveing. I _could_ buy a 12 to 120v converter and use the wall jack in the car when driving, but that still doesnt help me because the manual says power is CUT to the cig lighter when you are starting the car...which kills the eprom image. You have to shut off the car to upload the rom...then it gets cleared when you start it so thats why it HAS to be wired constant. I would just unplug the cig lighter when not tuning. I don't smoke.
That's the impression i am under by the way...someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
You are using this tuning method with hondata and the emulator??

get an extra cigarette lighter from any car. attach wires to the appropriate posts with long leads. then route the wires from the battery out under the hood and into the car through the window. Make sure to use a fuse. Now you have a lighter that has constant power while cranking. It might not look great but you aren't using it to drive all the time. To keep the leads nice and neat I like to put the ends in a drill and spin the wires together, it makes for a very professional looking harness.

Just a thought here... VWs have all the time hot cigarette lighters... they are nice for sayy... charging a cell phone... I personally love the always hot method.
Wiring the cigarette lighter hot all the time will only drain the battery if u leave something plugged into it all the time. I re-wired mine off the radio wire and I've had no problems.

Exactly thanks SlowTeg....i figured it was like an amp..has an aux 12v wire that allows the circuit to close only when ignition is switched...i knew boosted hybrid was sippin. I just wanted to make sure using the stereo wire was legit...i couldn't find any posts regarding this. Do you remember wire color off the top?? I have gsr helms..but its a crx...assuming their lighters are probably the same....
i run mine off the battery using a radio shack cigarette adaptor to battery clip assembly, i then get the lighter splitter and run my laptop charger and the pocket programmer off that constant 12v source. i run the wires into my cars window along with my wideban connections

wake up and enable your IM's other wise you will wonder why i never responded back to your message!
I checked..91 crx is definetly not switched.... oh well I figured it out.
I actually had one of those 12 to 120v converters...and wired it so i can clip it on the battery. Now I've got 2 12 volts right off the battery...emu wall plug and laptop. works nice.
