Hondata Guru's...need help
Before I get flamed...I searched the Hondata website and did a search here @ honda-tech. If there's a thread to my problem, please post.
Here it goes:
Setup:
72lb injectors
Hondata 2B
3 Bar Map Sensor
p28 ecu
Resistor wires (did not use the box) used 7.5 ohm@ 1/2 watt
Car starts and idles fine.
When I rev the engine with no load it cuts off at about 4200rpm. (Like a rev limiter but slower.)
When driving, can't pass 4200rpm (rev limit, same as above)
When Im driving, and hit's 2psi the car bogs and looses all power but the car does not die.
The Hondata Box LED light does not turn on at all (does not blink either).
CEL light on all the time, can't pull codes.
Tried to start it with a stock P72 ecu....idles for approx. 2 sec then dies.
One thing I came upon on the hondata site was: I might have gotten a P72 ROM chip instead of a P28, but I don't know if that matters.
Thats all I can think of.
Thanks for any help.

Sounds the chip is programmed to use the stock 2bar map sensor, but your using the 3bar. I have had a similar problem when I was tuning someone's car for them. I realized the mistake, then clicked the 3 bar sensor in rom editor. Burned a new chip, everything was fine.

No led light at all? There is a power problem b/t the interface and the ecu. The blue box isn't getting power. If it got power and there was a problem then it would blink.
Check to make sure the soldering was done correct for teh 3 pin prong. Make sure the com wire is going into the 3 pin prong on the ecu.
HTH
Let me know if you need anymore help.

Re: Hondata Guru's...need help (boosted hybrid)
Thanks for the reply....
Im going to try that @ E-town this Sunday. A friend of mine has all the software, laptop and burner (he should also have blank Rom chips).
If anyone else need anything done for their hondata(tuning) let me know. He will be @ the track on Sun (April 6th), for the E-Town event.
Anyone else had similar problems?

I just reread what you wrote, and didnt notice that the blue box light wasnt on. You are not getting power to the blue box. You are in what's called limp mode. You can drive the car in the limp mode, but it does exactly what is happening. You cannot rev the engine past a certain point (around 4,000rpm). Check the power source for the blue box from the ecu.

whatever the case, the blue box needs power, and as colin stated earlier, there must be a power problem between the interface and ecu, if its not lighting at all, then theres yer problem..

limp mode is 3200, not 4000

limp mode on mine has 4000rpm rev limit. I found this out because I pull the hondata box out when I go to class, the other day I was in a hurry leaving and I hit the rev limiter @ 4k. heh.

have you double checked the wire, connector at hondata end, and at the soldered socket on the ecu?
the wire is not sending signal/power to your hondata from the ecu. you just need to find out why
