HONDA OEM filters, is there a difference...maybe
Because they are changing OEM filters to a "smaller" size, I asked for the S2000 oil filter because they are still the "regular" size. Heres a shot of the old OEM "regular" filter and a new "S2k" filter. I guess there is a difference in part numbers as well, the s2000 are all Japan made. Whereas the normal filters are Canadian made.

This is an intersting topic.? I thought all honda filters were the same for all the 4 cyl. Can oil filters create more oil pressure? why does the s200 have more holes? Sorry im a newbie trying to gather all the info i can hopefully this is not a common ??????

As noted in first post, left side is Canadian, right side is the new S2k Japan made filter.

i can't remember who puts out the canadian ones...
search for a post about the insight oil filter...there is a link to a write up about all of them</TD></TR></TABLE>
Fram makes the canadian ones. They picked up the contract when Filtech stopped producing Honda filters. BTW, Filtech makes an excellent filter, they now produce for Bosch, hence thats what I use.

Re: (Razor)
buying oem doesn't necessarily mean you are getting the best filter, since contracts change all the time. A guy at a dealership I went to told me that every year or so they are slightly different. That basically turned me off the OEM parts, atleast for some things like filters. As long as it has an "anti-drainback valve" I'm basically happy.

to get an toyo ruki filter just ask for an s2000 filter, they have their own seperate part # now.

yes different filters can creat e more or less oil pressure. i changes my headgasket one time and that time i used a K&N oil filter. when i put the car back together i noticed i lost 6psi of oil pressure at cruising. i though for the longest soemthing was wrong but on my next oil change i went back to stock and got my oil pressur eback and realized it was the damn KN oil filter that was filtering so much more than it was restrictive.
