Default HKS SSQ vs BLITZ

which is louder? pretty easy question. I've had the blitz for about a year running 15 psi daily, and it's decently loud, but sounds a bit muffled. I just ordered the HKS SSQ BOV, and I hope it was a good investment. I'm trying to determine which is going to be louder, thanks guys.

ha, no. My current blitz bov sputters a lot, and I clean it over and over, and no matter how I adjust it, it sputters quite often. It was used when I got it, and I've used it for over a year, so I'm assuming that it's just going bad, or possibly because it's just a shitty bov. I got the HKS because of all the great reviews on it. I was simply curious if it was louder? I could barely hear my blitz.

HKS is rather loud when its not recircd. So if you are going for a good clean sound, you have a winner. It's also alot better for running lower boost because of the design, so you shouldnt have any of the sputtering or compressor surge you had earlier. The Tial is amazing for higher boost, or when you are willing to commit to a certain boost level i.e. 25-28 and not 10-12 because of the spring ratings. The HKS gets away from that because of its design, but above 22 psi the tend to get a bit flakey. I've seen them hold higher than that just fine, and I've seen them start to freak out around 22psi. Also, adjusting the insert in the SSQV will change the sound remarkably.

forgive me for asking this, but what do you mean by recirculated? I don't know a whole lot about BOV's.

recirculated means the air that comes out of the blow off valve.. goes back into the intake pipe (inlet side of the turbo).. its a closed system, usually for MAF (mass air flow) systems.. like toyota supras, nissans.. so on..

uncirculated means the air that comes out of the blow off valve.. is vented to the open atmosphere.. which most honda guys run because we are on a speed density (map system)

So....are you saying that hks units start to leak around 22+psi?

Alright, my next question is probably a dumb one, but one of the reasons I would like to be able to hear my BOV a little better is to monitor the sputtering on it. I am hoping to get rid of that one I install this HKS SSQ. I'm sure you've heard blitz and this HKS, much of a difference? performance and sound?

i run knock off hks, i used to have the real one. i think hks style is the best cause it works for all boost levels. i do'nt know about high hp and i guess thats why the make the race version.

I love my Blitz. I have had it for over a year and never cleaned or adjusted it. I have a direct vacuum line going to my intake manifold. It's perfect. More than likely vacuum is your problem. Try loosening it. If you want to squeak around the neighborhood and attract attention, get the HKS. By the way, even Tials flutter, but people call it a rattlesnake sound because it a blingin' Tial 'yo.

I already ordered the hks, this is the first I've ever heard that the HKS is actually louder then the blitz.. weird. So it is definately louder than the blitz? Thanks for the quick replies!

I thought the SSQV was the least responsive BOV amongst all the big name ones like greddy, tial, turbosmart, blitz, etc... well atleast thats what Ive read numerous of times on here.

I am trying to complete a custom turbo kit... why donīt you sell me your blitz bov? hehe, JK.

Iīve heard the HKS SSQV and it isnīt Rice at all. I heard one "RAPTOR" and the sound is cool. I think that Greddy makes raptor.
