Long story, but basically I was able to find a BOV free of charge on a car at my friend's junk yard. It ends up being a HKS SSBOV. It's a little rough on the outside, but it's starting to clean up nicely. Anyway....

The bolt on the top is missing totally. Can I just find a bolt with the same thread to thread in there and put a jam nut on it? Is there anything special about the bolt that comes on it? I can't find a picture of one anywhere, so if anyone has a good picture of the top of the valve, that would be really helpful.

Also, if I'm running low boost (5 - 7lbs), do I just want to run it without the bolt? Isn't the bolt backed totally off the best way to run on a low boost aplication? It looks like the previous owner had the bolt almost the whole way out when the top of the vavle got hit in the accident because the last thread is damaged (and the bolt is gone).

the bolt on top is used to adjust the tightness of the valve that opens when the charge pipe is in boost...

I'd try to replace the bolt, just go to home depot and try every single metric bolt out there, you'll find one that fit...

 

since you are running low boost, it should be fine, as long as it doesn't leak. most people run it with the bolt almost all the way out.
