on stock head like 450 I think.

You do realize that aside from compression the only difference is the cam, right?

You can get cams that are even bigger the a VTEC cam so basically you can see anywhere in the 700-800whp range just like a VTEC head. Of course the head must be ported and polished and able to rev to 10grand, but you get my point. No VTEC needed if you have big cams

I seriously wouldn't take an LS motor to 10,000 no matter what valvetrain is in it.

The ball/socket style rocker arms are a big difference in the 2 heads.

Also, I don't think you would see power to 10,000 on many LS heads, even with substantial porting.

But yes, you can still make BIG power with a straight LS, so long as you work over the head propoerly. As an added bonus, you'll make more torque than your average VTEC setup as well thanks to a longer stroke.

But it's that same stroke that will force you to make your power a little lower than the vtec crowd.

Shoot for a 4.7-8k powerband on the LS, and you'll save yourself some heartache.

95GSRTT is correct - there are many differences.

Rocker assy. is different.
The head design itself is different
The LS head is much more restricted.

Click Here. That is a link to some pretty big numbers made by JG back in the day. I miss my LS, the torque made for an enjoyable ride

I know there are more differences, but I was just generalizing since he was kindof a newbie. GJ pointing it out though
