Default High Mileage Setups!

I just looking to see who is boosting their high mileage cars on stock internals, I have a 93 DA with 185,xxx miles on it, doesn't smoke a bit, leaks nothing and it's in perfect running condition, i'm sure it will hold up to 8-10psi but the question is how long? This car is my Daily driver so I wanna make a good choice here. I know the first thing to go usually on old motors are the rings, so I figured if I was going to build it go with some eagle rods, and wiesco pistions and new rings and rod bolts/bearings and new headgasket with headstuds and timing belt. It is necessary to go through all that or just boost the stocker and hope it holds together.

I have been running my d16 since a little less than the 100k mile mark. I'm at ~150k now. All stock internals. Car is run hard all the time, been to the drag strip and autocrossed many times.

Do a comp. test to see how healthy the motor is.

a few years ago i boosted an ls motor that was completely stock. it had around 200k miles when i boosted it, and i put about 15-20k on it with the turbo. initial compresson was about 180 and after a year and those 15k miles it was down to around 160-165. it was still even, but lower. the car dyno'd at 238/201 on 10-11psi

that car survived a few pretty bad overheats, a broken wideband and some 13.8:1 boost air fuel and some other ****. one of the key reasons it lasted so long is i drive it conservatively. you dont have to boost everywhere you go, and it prolongs the motor.

my advice- leave the motor stock and unopened and boost it. you already have the turbo kit. now start stockpiling parts for the eventual rebuild and more hp. once you take it apart to replace even headstuds, you might as well replace everything.
