Default High Flow Cat QUESTION

When buying a high fllow cat, does it really matter what brand? like for example $25 ones from ebay. If it does matter then what are good companies for cats? and not too expensive. This may seem kinda dumb but i take it i gotta have connections for 3" on both sides right? It will be for a turbo. thanks.

I am running a catco here No complaints whatsoever. The 3" high flow catco will flow abotu 1200cfm. I think that will support 750+ HP

The $25 one from ebay is probably a testpipe, which is NOT the same as a high-flow cat, no matter how they advertize it.

i have bought a couple of the under $25 cats off ebay. They are the real deal just with no flanges and a crazy price somehow. I got a 2.5" for $18. it was brand name and designed for a 5.9L truck. the ones i get do not have a picture but they give PN so you can look it up elsewhere. no pic keeps the prices down because people are too lazy to look it up.

Good info.
I've seen a lot of testpipes advertized on ebay as "high flow cats" so that is just what I was going on.

in my opinion, it might be beneficial to buy a test pipe, for cheaper, and just slap your cat on for emissions testing...thats what im doing now. im not sure how **** the police are about noise in your area though. straight pipes + turbo = flamethrower

I need to look into this. I hate the way my exhaust smells. Even at idle it's bad.

found it - the sellers name on eBay is nomee80. Now that I look at the auctions I think I paid $28. $18 is how much my 2.5" flex was. Says they are car sound in the add, not sure if mine is or not.

So how much do the Catco's run? i got the summit mag right here. Thanks for the replies. yeah the ones on ebay are pretty but then ill have to get hte flanges put on. nah...as far as flex pipe goes, is it a necessity? How much power would i need to run to cuase my motor to move that much? When getting it, will i buy it with flanges on it? thanks.

i got a 2.5" universal catco brand new off ebay for 35 bucks + shipping had to buy flanges and do some welding but it was better than payin like 80+ dollars from summit for the bolt in...but you can buy them either way, which ever is easiest for you is what i would do

Well what year is your car? obd2 has 2 sensors, obd1 and obd0 have 1 o2 sensor

How much horsepower would you actually have to put out in order to take advantage or a 3" exhaust? I mean that seems to be the question to ask. Cause at low boost a 2.5" would work great but at high horsepower and alot of exhaust flow a 3" would be needed.. you get what im sayin? It seems like it would actually hinder performance at low boost having the 3in. Or am i wrong and it will make power all around anyways? Thanks.

Hey when you get a Catco universal, are they ALL the same size? that may be a dumb question. I just dont any problems with fitting it under the car. And are they 2.5 or 3"? it doesnt say. like the universal ones from ebay.

more then just horsepower.. when you move up to 3" , its noted time and time again, you can increase throttle response and spool time..

also the difference in many of those high flow cats.. are that many arent high flow.. but just other cats.. also, say like a real carsound is carp ok and approved. where you live, that makes a big difference. and last but not least.. the fact that the cheap ones can burn up pretty damm quick

Why not just buy a carsound? I got my 3" High Flow for $99. Generic AutoZone cats with 2.25" pipe cost $95...why not spend the extra $?

Why get a 3" carsound for 99, when ya can get a catco 3" for 34.99?....and the auto zone cats are just factory replacements of course they wont be super cheap nore performance oriented
