Question about a cat converter
A buddy of mine is trying to sell me a cat converter that supposedly increases HP by 40? Is this true that a cat converter can increase your HP as high as 40? If this is true what time of cat converters are good to buy for a 2000 civic EX?

LOL....nope no cat's gonna get you those numbers, maybe 4 but nowhere near 40. Your homie's ****** with you or he just doesn't know what he's talkin about. Anyways carsound makes obd-II compliant cats and i heard random technology is good too.

it depends on the user. if u run rich it will crap out sooner ur gonna get mixed reviews. you can try the renault cat that hytech uses its suppose to last a longer and is 2.5".

My Car Sound is 3+ years old, has been installed on 3 different cars (two of which had no tuning), and is still working nicely.

My catco **** the bed just under 1yr after I put it on... I ran with out an o2 for a while so it was probobly running a little fat but nothing too serious....
I'm pissed... I don't want to risk buying another or another aftermarket one as most are made WAY more cheaply than OEM cats are...
Something about palladium instead of platnum... or something...

Re: Question about a cat converter (Philip)
There is a company I found one time that made some special thing to fix the check engine light when you change your cat, or replace it with a test or straight pipe. Its just something that tricks the sensor a bit, or takes the reading at a diffrent place. Otherwise, your car starts to act funny, from what I hear, after the check engine light is on for too long from the new cat being installed.
good luck with that 40hp though
