HF manifold + external wastegate???
Okay i have a hf manifold for my turbo set up, and i need to run my external wastegate on it. I plan on using the stock o2 sensor hole on the mani to mount the wastegate, but the hole on the the mani is a wee bit smaller than the flange on the wastegate (38mm btw), my question is, can i use the stock o2 sensor hole and just bolt the wastegate on there even though the hole on the mani is smaller than the wastegate flange? Maybe honda bond that **** on there and hope theres no leaks, or dremel the **** out of the o2 sensor hole and make it the same size as the external wastegate. Please lmk, i know alot of old school HMT members have done this before....

wow this **** makes me nervous. i would use high temp rtv sealant at minimum and definitely get the hole on the mani to match the wg as closely as possible.
this is def not option #1...

Re: (pheurton-skeurto)
lol, you know that internal wastegated turbo would be just fine. i wouldn't run anything bigger then 16g thru that setup. And no you cannot use hondabond wtf are you thinking, this whole idea is one of the dumbest things ever. HF manifold = pos and you won't make more then 250 out of it. And the external wastegate will run you about 5 of those manifolds if you are going for ebay tial knock off.

Re: (ABK)
The only successful way to make an external WG work on the HF manifold is to either: 1) weld a flange on the top & bore out the hole, or 2) fly-cut the top flat, bore the hole out, and tap 2 bolts for the WG.
I have 2 HF's I did the latter to because I was working at a machine shop at the time. However, previous to that I used a t3/t04b s-trim turbo with the garrett internal WG, and it held boost just fine. No boost spikes, uneven boost, or boost falling at redline.

Re: (HiProfile)
project car magazine used the hf/std manifold and externally wastegated the 14b ...with an adapter plate to the downpipe with welding on the dowpipe and then welding an adapter plate to internal wg and making a completely custom downpipe/ wastegate flange
edit: found the pic of the project car magazine when they did the article on b16 VS. turbo d16...you can kind of see the hf manifold set up with the set up for the external wastegate behind the downpipe...
