Help! Oil Sender
To make a long story short...I hooked up a line from the stock sender location, and when I turned on the car, the CEL did NOT come on, but I noticed that the wire to the sender wasn't even connected! Does the sender only put out a voltage, or make a circuit when the pressure is low? Or, is there something wrong...?

The sender is nothing more than a switch. At low oil pressure (@4psi I've been told), the switch completes a circuit to ground. It has nothing to do with the CEL. I don't run the stock sender on either of my cars.

Yep, that's right. You can leave the sender disconnected and it will not set a CEL. It only goes to ground if the pressure is under 4psi. You can leave it disconnected.

Re: Help! Oil Sender (RGAZ)
Thanks guys, just want to make sure I'm not going to get myself into any trouble. I'm going to get an oil pressure gauge, so it'll be all good. I already have one, but it is a POS.
so, if I disconnected the sender from the oil line and had it still connected to the dash wire, I should get a light, correct?
I've read your site a bunch, Randy, very useful! However, I went to an oil filter/hose shop yesterday and I learned that there is a difference between BSP and BSPT fittings (ie. taper). Your parts list says you used a BSP fitting, as alot of other people have. Has it given you any trouble? I bought both and couldn't get the BSP in after a couple tries, and the BSPT just went right in. It was also only $5 for the adapter, as compared to $13 for the BSP.

Yes. But why would you do that?
