Help my setup... please.
I just bought a Revhard stage 2 kit and I currently have the head off of my motor. I'd like to upgrade the internals just to be safe enough to run 6-7 pounds daily and maybe 9 at the track. I have a fuel pressure riser, fuel pump, fmu, and fuel rail so far. I have the head off the motor right now and I was planning to get stainless valves, new valve seals, new valve guides, and a block guard. How does this setup sound? Should I bother with springs, or retainers or anything else?? How about a thicker headgasket??
The thicker headgasket will allow you to run more boost. If you're going to keep it under 9 PSI there is no reason to use one though. All the rest of that stuff isn't going to help you either.
What engine do you have? You need to give more info if you want advice. The first things to break are usually the pistons. Boost probably isnt going to break any valvetrain parts.

I have a first gen B16a. I have been told that the majority of the time it's a failure in the head components that will happen first? I was hoping not to have to do anything to the bottom-end except for the block guard. I figured since it's a ten year old engine the springs could be getting a little spongy, etc. Also, the head that is going on it has seen detonation previous to this turbo going on so I thought the valves may be weakened.
