Default Help me pick a turbo please

Ive always used sc61's on all of my motors but Im thinking of running something different on my next build.....all advise welcome
setup:
LS bottom, stock sleeves with block guard 81.5 mm
9.1 wisecos
eagle rods
gsr head
skunk2 springs and retainers
gsr cams, edelbrock IM
blox mani, tial 38mm WG, 3inch DP, 2.5 piping,
Looking for mid 300 on pump and 400-450 on race gas, I want a somewhat fast spooling turbo since Ive always had the laggy sc61.
I was thinking maybe a 60-1 or some type of garret or one of these:

The tuned the:
T04b 57trim (300whp-500whp)
This unit flows 50lbs a minute
56.52mm inducer
75.00mm exducer

It would get full boost by 4300 RPM. 1.8 liter.

Your limited to under a grand. GT2854R, T4/T61 Turbo. I would personally save up another 200 bucks roughly and get a T3/T04E or a GT2876R. May even consider a used one?

what T04B is flowing 50lb/min? none in this world. im guessing you typoed and mean T04E?

either way, 50 trim all the way. flows about 3 lbs/min more than a 57 trim 45 vs.48). its just a better turbo.

57 trim or something similar. For your power goals there's no need for anything bigger. All you're going to do is lose spool time. SLS just built a B16 w/ pistons and rods on a 57trim that made 451.9whp 316wtq @ 22psi on 110octane and w/ 91, they made 389whp. A simple 57trim or variation of it on a good setup will make the power you want.

Also, you could look into the STC Silver Surfer.

I still say go w/ a 57 trim. It will make the power you're hoping for AND doesn't cost a whole lot. I know the guys at SLS have had great luck w/ a few 57trim setups. Their last one made 452hp on 110octane (they're now shooting for 500whp on it) and 398whp on 91 octane. The turbo will make the power you're looking for...

If budget allows, get the GT3076r OR the Borg Warner S256. The BW will spool equally as fast as the GT3076r but is a journal bearing and not water cooled. Those two factors make it a little better turbo IMO. It CAN be rebuilt and you dont have to mess around w/ water lines (extra $140). Not to mention the BW S256 can make over 550whp w/ a ton of torque. SLS did testing on it and i'll find the results if you want...you have more options than the GT30r series if you care to look around. One more thing, i dont want everyone to think i'm against the GT30r series because i'm not...its just that there are other options out there that most people dont investigate

I really would look at the Silver surfer to make that power under a $1000. The housings look similar to the ones that are on special, but BELIEVE ME, the silver surfer is a different turbo altogether, using a 60-1 compressor wheel in a stage 5 exhaust wheel for the CORRECT combination to make larger power without sacrificing much upfront full boost characteristics. Maximum boost it mainly made at about 4200rpms. These are $870.

I dont think this should be a hard decision. This turbo is probably your best bet and definately one of the best for the money....PM The Shodan and at least talk with him about it. I bought my last turbo from him and i couldnt be happier. His customer service is great and the product is awesome as well.
