help with lsvtec compression
ok i have searched for an hour or so but no luck, i am currently building a 81.5mm lsvtec for boost and using wiseco pistons but they dont offer any to reach the 9.0 to 1 ratio that my tuner recommended for daily driving so could i get the 9.3-9.8 to 1 and do a multi layer head gasket (if so what one) or would it be better to get the 8.3-8.8 ones and mill the head??? i thought the head gasket would be the better one but im new to all this??? all im trying to do is get to 9.0 area
you can always use a different company piston that would be 9.0:1 like JE.
9.3-9.8 is just fine for a built motor LSVTEC Turbo. I do not recommend the 8.0:1, off boost response would seriously suffer depending upon the turbo used.

thats what i was worried about was exactly what your talking about and i really rather run wiseco pistons, not that i want this to turn into a pissing match about what piston is god but me and my father have had good luck with his drag car and wisecos. also by built i didnt mean sleeved just all forged internals
I'm currently running the 8.3:1 Wiseco pistons in my 81.5mm LS-V build. The off-boost response isn't that bad IMO. In fact, the motor feels really similar to my old LS-T set up. I'm using the typical 57 trim t3/t4 turbo.. I think it ultimately comes down to what you and your tuner prefer as to which pistons you want to select. You can opt for the 9.3-9.8:1 pistons and don't necessarily have to get a thicker headgasket.
