before i built my motor i asked around here whether forged internals would cause my stock OBD2 knock sensor to freak out. the consensus was that no, they wouldn't, it would be fine.

now i'm starting to wonder.

i had the bottom end rebuilt by golden eagle, with endyn 9.5:1 pistons and eagle rods. it's an h22a4 with a supercharger at 9psi, for now.

it's running pretty well during the break-in EXCEPT that i consistently get code P0325 when i cruise at freeway speeds. driving around town forever doesn't seem to cause it. occasionally it'll go 30 miles on the freeway without doing it, but usually it's less than that. it always seems to come on between 2500 and 3500 RPM, sometimes with no load on the motor at all, but every time i've been in 5th gear. once today it came on going downhill, barely on the gas, around 60mph in 5th (about to put it in neutral and coast to a stop.)

the description of the code is "knock sensor circuit malfunction," and the probable causes listed are "open or short in ks circuit, knock sensor, or ECM." since it never comes on after even prolonged stop and go low speed driving (up to 40 or so?) i just don't see how it could be broken, or disconnected, or faulty ECM. it did not APPEAR broken when i took it off the block and when the shop put it back on.

my mechanic thinks it is rod knock or some other noise the forged internals are making. he thinks we should probably move the sensor elsewhere. it doesn't mean much, but the motor SOUNDS fine. louder than before, but no noticeable knocking or pinging sounds. i'm not boosting yet.
