Default Help with engine management for 2 forms of FI (JRSC & Nitrous)

I've been playing with idea of running a dry shot with my JRSC, as you might have seen in that other thread i started, but im not sure about how to manage the fuel. If I was going to go with this setup, I'd be doing it to save money, so a full EMS would kinda defeat the purpose.

I know hondata won't be able to do it, but I was wondering if any of the other systems out there might be able to handle it, more specifically: APEXI VAFC and Greddy E-manage. I would want to be able to run with the JRSC for daily travel and only use the nitrous on rare occasions.

Anyone with either of those systems, let me know what you think. Thanks a lot.

*edit: i cant spell for ****

If I got it tuned at the dyno on and off the nitrous, could I just write down the settings for each setup and switch between the two of them as I need to? Haha, im not sure if it works that way but it doesnt seem like that bad an idea. I'd need to have an ignition controller too right? All you tech gurus, let me know what you think.

I heard the AEM would work well. Why won't the Hondata work?

As I said in the first post, an AEM EMS would be too expensive for the budget of this project, and the hondata can't handle being on and off the bottle, at least not to my knowledge.

I might be wrong on this but I think its because it can't switch between two different fuel curves like that (depending on whether you are on or off the gas). Someone might be able to elaborate more on the subject, and Im still looking for help guys. If anyone knows of any members that are using nitrous with a jrsc, please let me know, otherwise, just let me know what you think.

Someone must have some experience with the V-afc or e-manage that could help me out!

How much nitrous do you plan on squirtin'? I run a sohc jackson charged 11 psi,
run anywhere between a 40-60 shot dry, doesn't effect it one bit, really helps
with the intake charge, pulls really strong on the bottle. I have ran it with factory computer and with my new hondata setup. Juice a small 40 shot right in front of throttle body, just run your fuel a little rich and conservative.

It is only gonna be a dry 35-shot, so maybe if I retard the ignition just a bit I can get away with not completely tuning the fuel when im on the gas. I'm still looking for more opinions and possible set ups so please let me know if you think you can help. Thanks again!

**EDIT: Haha, should i just stop bumping this cuz i have a feeling that if no one has answered after 75 views, no one probably will. It's funny, Ive never actually posted a question that H-T couldn't answer, im in disbelief.

PMS (www.efisystems.com) can be purchased cheap - used. And works fairly well. We had it in our car. Brian

Nice! I just checked out the site and that **** is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully I can find one at a decent price. Did you find that it was easy to use and did you discover that it was missing anything? Is this the picture of the user interface or would I use a laptop? Can I change between the different settings while im driving the car or does it not work this way? Thanks for the help.

**EDIT: Ok I just did a search and this is exactly what I was looking for.. its like a full standalone except it piggybacks off the stock ecu. I'll be able to tune it with the nitrous and without. I'll let you know how my project ends, im hoping everything will work out as planned.

It is very easy to use. Having a wideband installed certainly helps. That is the user interface. I've used both the handheld unit and a laptop with their software, and I actually prefer using the handheld. You can have up to three different programs, and you can change between them on the fly, and you can tune on the fly. I mess with mine while driving all the time. I guess I should be paying attention to the road I'm very happy with my PMS. I've even rigged it up so that I can use the nitrous table as my vtec table.

If you do get one and have any questions about using it, feel free to PM me.
