Default Help, Car died!!

I was driving to lunch, and I turned the corner and all of the sudden my car just died, no warning at all, just died. It was running really great while driving and there was no loud bang or anything that sounded bad before it died. I tried starting it up again, and it wouldnt start. It cranks over fine and I have fuel pressure so its not the fuel pump, but it wont start. I suspect the ignition but I'm not quite sure. Do you guys have any ideas?

same thing happened to me. my problem was the ignition coil in the distributor. sometimes it is the Ignition Control Module (ICM) aka the ignitor that goes bad.

get a timing gun and crank the engine and see if the gun is triggering. mine was flashing but it was intermittent - thats probly the coil. if it does not trigger at all, it could be the coil or the ICM. Call your local parts stores and see if any of them will test the ICM for free.

i ended up getting a new ICM and coil, but i could have gotten away with just the coil. a good price for either part is 60-80 bucks.

thanks alot
i talked to a friend that had that same thing happened to him and he said the exact same thing.
where did you get the ICM at?
I have a full MSD ignition setup
I checked all the wires, and it all seems fine
Does the MSD ignition box replace the ICM?
if so i could probably use my stock one
oh yeah and where did you get your parts from (just curious)
thanks again

Same thing happened to my gs-r after i put a jacobs ice pak ignition on. i burned out another ignitor (icm) immediately after the first one went so i pulled the ignition back off and no problems now. how long has your ignition been on the car??? You can get the ignitor from napa. just take the old one out of the distributor and give them numbers off of it. they wont list one by application. if you need one from a gs-r i can get you the napa part number.

well guess what
you wont believe this
i have an msd distributor
and where the coil wire goes into the distributor, i guess there was like a wax piece behind it, well it came loose in the distributor, and it spun around and smashed my ignitor to pieces. dam that msd pos,
to all those that have msd distributors, i suggest you guys take that wax piece out, or else your looking at spending 180$ on a new ignitor if it comes loose
it doesnt even do anything, so why stick that pos thing in there in the first place
DAM MSD!!!
oh well im just venting
thanks alot for your help guys
