Hello all. Newbie to FI.
Hello everyone.I'm new to the forced induction forum but not new to H-T. So if I ask any dumb questions that you have answered a million times, please be patient, I have searched. I plan on swapping an H22a into my 94 Accord later this year and I'm now heavily leaning towards turbo too. Are there any resources that I can read (the more technical the better) about turbos and custom setups. Also, I noticed that many people opt for the H23 rather than the H22A for turbo..any special reasons why? Thanks.

Yes, closed deck...that's the biggest reason....unless you're going to resleeve anyway. I'm assuming you don't want to go all out on a turbo? Probably a turbo kit? If so, I would suggest the h23 with an f-max/drag...type kit. If you go with h22 and want to turn the boost up, your stock sleeves probably won't hold it, nor can you use Forged Aluminum pistons on the stock sleeves (at least that's what all the experts say although I'm yet to see any proof of this...).
Let me know how your progress goes and what you decide on. I'm doing the exact same thing with you except I have a built h22 and putting it in a 98+ accord and going turbo (pieced together).

Not being a Prelude/Accord guy....I remember some talk [EnDyn board] about using a H23 with a H22 head.
Could this be a viable option?

I thought the H22A was closed deck as well. Am I incorrect?
As for the h22a engines, You got the h22a, h22a1, and h22a4 if i remember correctly. h22a4 has an open deck, i am pretty sure. I think they changed that during the 96-97 transission... I spoke to someone before that told me their h22XX was a closed deck though... Someone that has the a4 or a1 please check into this. thanks
The h23a motor has lower compression then the h22a does. It is really up to you on which motor you want. Both have their pro's and con's. The vtec engine is a better motor to go n/a with but is also good for turbo. It really depends on the internal work you plan on doing with the car to choose the motor of choice. Also, know that you cant bore out the H series cyliner walls, if you go with a larger piston you must resleeve them, darton makes great sleeves so does golden eagle.
