Default ... heat wrap question...

... to those who use heat wrap on your downpipe or manifold... how do you secure the heat wrap to the pipes so that it does not unravel, come off, or come loose?... lemme know... thanks...

hose clamps, or they make special ties just for heat wrap. its a metal band that uses a little clip to hold it in place. look on summitracing.com or jegs.com

hose clamps - cheap and effective

My dp before I sold it:

I started at the turbine flange and used one clamp there, and used 2 down by the flex.

my thoughts exactly... i know that it keeps heat in which would increase energy within a pipe, so it would be logical to do the manifold, however wouldn't more heat make it more prone to crack?

Just wrap it up and bake it on slowly, once finished. it smells like hokey pokey cooking. Nah it shouldn't cause your mani to crack unless your mani is crap to begin with and in that case in just a matter of time anyway.

Aircraft grade safety wire and safety wire plyers work great. I figure if its good enough for aircraft its good enough for me. I have tons of it lying around, my dad was a jet engine mechanic in the Airforce along time ago, and he "acquired" a few hundred spool of this stuff.
