Head and main studs??
Will it matter if I use ARP main studs and GE head studs? I'm getting a good price on these new and was curious if it would matter. Plan to run around 20 psi of boost. Forged internals, FYI. Thanks for any input before I purchase either kits.

as long as they aren't mix-matched...ex: using ARP and GE head studs together.
If you use ARP mains and GE head studs then I'm sure with proper TQ specs it will hold just fine

Simple, dont mix.
Run ARP's or GE's. That's it.

Dont you have to line bore your mains when switching to main studs?
I have heard something along the lines of that...

You can also keep your stock main bolts as well....there are alot of people out there that are making a **** load of power with stock main bolts. As for the head studs...they should be changed.

The clamping force does not change if you use main studs. You torque ARP/GE main studs to stock specs....so there is no extra force holding down your main caps. They just hold the main-caps down better due to the stronger material not stretching (Studs). You will get mixed review on line boring your mains...some people do it, some don't...I personally don't.

No there is a stronger clamping force with a stud bc when you torque a bolt to # number of ft/lbs a portion of that measured resistance is due to the drag of the threads along the entire shank. You dont have that with a stud. So if you torque a stud to the same value it will have a stronger clamping force. 50ft/lbs on a stud > 50 ft/lbs on a bolt.
