Is this head fixable?!?
So i just went to install a b18b bottom end with my b16 head...Everything went ok, but the car only ran for about 2 minutes. I pull the cams to find this

This is the cam journal closest to the t-belt

2nd one closest to the tbelt

Cam itself

Cam cap

One more
I think i may have had my timing belt to tight, because the journals closest to the dizzy are fine, and they get worse closer to the tbelt. I don't know if this is fixable, or if the cam is any good any more

If the grooves are not super deep, which they don't look to be, I think it can be fixed. I know Dave at headgames has fixed some like that but I don't know the extent of the damage.
Did you even use any assembly lube when you reinstalled those cams?

I don't think assembly lube would have saved that, you have a problem elsewhere. I usually don't use assembly lube when putting the cams in just make sure to put a lot of oil on everything.
Yeah i didn't have any assembly lube, so i just put oil all over everything...I also fulled the ECU fuse and primed the engine to get oil pressure before i started it. I am supplying oil to the head via a filter sandwich and a line to the back of the head.
you sure you had the cam caps in the right places and everything was clean
i had an itr head like that and sold it for cheap because i coulldnt get it fixed

i had the same thing happen to one of my heads a couple years ago, when i took the head off my ls vtec to put it on a gsr block i got. i had to drill the oil hole back out that was blocked for the ls motor but i obviously didnt get all the metal shavings out and they chewed up the head and cam pretty bad just like that.. so id say u had some dirt or metal shavings that worked there way in there and ate it up or blocked the oil passage.. u wanna make sure everything is very clean of dirt or anything that would clog the oil passage...
