Default Head built questions

So I'm getting my first engine built. I plan to get my b18c1 sleeved by Benson and get the bottom fully built. My question is would it be point less to built the head if I am just running stock cams. Some say I can get away with it but I really don't want to do it a second time around. I was thinking of manley valve trains. BTW my goal is to just run a smaller turbo for quick spool and trying to hit the 300-350WHP mark. It will be a DD and not really interested in high HP nor 1/4 mile times. Just pure fun. Leave comments about your experience, turbo options. I was thinking of the precision TA55 BB on a neukin short ram but it looks like that turbo may be alittle big. thank for all comments

unless you are running cams or plan on revving really really high its pointless, you wont see any power gains out of springs/retainers without cams

If just all fun, just slap on a turbo on your stock setup.

I already have my stock b16 turbo. 237whp @8# and 193lbs trq.
I wanted to acomplish something close to an evo 9 spool/ boost time which will require a smaller turbo but I will have to boost high which is the reason for the built. My current setup is alright but I just want more response and alittle more power at the same time.

If there's a good turbo out there please list.
The GOAL is 300 -360 WHP

thanks to those that post.

300-360...thats a broad spectrum.. I dont see an issue if you match up the turbo correctly.

The evo 8-9 Turbos are lots of fun.. A few fabricators on here make twin scroll manifolds for b series motors. They are td05hr-16g Turbos.. You want the one with the 10.5 turbine housing and the twin puck wastegate flapper since it vents both scrolls of the turbine housing... You can also upgrade the turbo with a number of larger compressor wheels and compressor housings.. Including anti surge housings.

This would be your best affordable bet for a really responsive turbo that still makes power. I've seen them on ebay in bolt on and go shape for 175 and up

I thought about that, but those evo turbo's require water cool and I haven't figure it out how to rig the water lines yet. I'll probably do more research. I'll look into those manifolds. That may be the route I'll take since I am expecting the similar results.

Just because the water ports are there doesn't mean you have to use them... That's only true for ball bearing Turbos... And running water lines is as easy as pumping gas

I read on other thread that a GT28 is a good alternative for the Evo 9 turbo.
I am unsure if the Evo 9 turbos are BB or not. I will look more into it as I found a few threads about this simular setup.
If anyone know where I can really get the manifold on here that will be the start. The turbo I can get it locally and water line, I'm sure there's aways way.

Stock evo Turbos are journal bearing
And a gt28 won't support anywhere near the power of an evo 16g

You'd need a gt2860 or gt2871
