Default having turbo problems!!! plz help!!!

hi guys! im new to this web forum. I have turbocharged my 98 integra type r and I have been having a lot of problems for the past year. First off, I have a idle problem. Whenever I start my car and when I'm driving, the idle surges so bad, it stays inbetween 1500-2000 rpm and will sometimes just stay at 2000 rpm. What could be wrong? I have talked with many people and I always get different responses from them. Some have said its my egr valve, some have said for me to check my cams at tdc, some had said that its just a vacuum leak, others have said my engine is blown. I know it cant be blown because my car still pulls nicely, but the idle is really getting on my nerves. Plus my gas mileage is getting really bad, I get something like 18 mpg now. Also, my mugen speedometer has stopped working on me. I came back from seattle yesterday and I let my friend drive it to his house because I park it there and I was a little too tired to drive it back to his house, so I let him drive it back home. He told me that it stopped working on his way home. What do you guys think? could something have come loose and messed up my speedometer? I have been hitting some potholes and stuff, but could that effect my speedometer? Oh, and another problem I've just noticed today is that my interior lights are starting to fade out a little with the surge in rpm. Could this be an alternator problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks a lot!!!!

I had that same idleing problem as well. Check all the vlaves behind your intake manifold and all the vacuum lines. I replaced all my vacum hoses that came with my turbo kit and that ended up fixing the problem for me. It idled really wierd, going up and down between 1500-200 and would stay at 2000 just like yours. the lights thing may be an alternator problem, or maybe just your battery s going out, that's my best guess. Email me if you have any other questions. lauwman@hotmail.com

i checked the iac valve i think. Thats the thing behind the intake manifold with the spring and little screen filter right? Anyways, my friend and I took it out and cleaned out the screen. We put that back on and my car idles weirder than before, it revs from 1500-2500 rpm instead of 1500-2000. I have no idea whats wrong now. What do you guys think it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

check the vac lines. If there is no vac lines loose then the only thing that I can think of that can make a car idle from 1,000-2000 and then drop back down is problay the headgasket. Does your temp guage read hot anytime? I would check all vac lines to make sure they are secure and tight.
