Default Having some turbo issues...

Hey guys I'm having some issues after installing my turbo. First off, here is my setup:

1992 Acura Integra with 91 B16 (stock).
Ford probe gt turbocharger bolted to custom built, one-off equal length turbo manifold.
The turbo uses an internal wastegate.
I used a Turbo XS manual boost controller set to 8psi.
Most of the kit is soft piped (stock eclipse).
It uses a 1st gen eclipse blow off valve and 2 check valves to fool the map sensor. I'm also using a B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator (anyone know what this should be set at? I'm on the 4th line from the top).
I'm running 93 Octane.

Here is my issue. Detonation. Here is the wierd part: When the timing is retarded (as it should be) the motor detonates at 3k. When the timing is advanced, it detonates around 5k.

I have decided not to turn the car on until I have some type of fuel management. I now have two options.

A.) FMU/Fuel Pump
B.) SMC/DSM Injectors/Resistor Box.

I chose B. My friend is telling me I'm crazy and will blow my motor, and that I should have gotten A. I just ordered my SMC, and a resistor box. I know the box is OBD0, and my car is OBD1, but isn't that the point? Don't the ohms going to the ECU have to be converted? Anyway, I don't know what to do. Should I try to sell the SMC and resistor box when they get here and not buy the injectors...then go with A. Should I stick with B?

Any, and all help is very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Goldfingiz

I failed to mention that I am running 8 PSI.

If I could afford standalone, I'd also be able to afford a better kit, and a built motor. I'm really just looking for some advice with my current setup.

Thanks,

Go with B. Put the pressure back down to stock and wire up the resistors. Do ~35% @idle, and ~37% throughout the band. The SMC will come w/ instructions for your application, and it's incredibly easy to install/tune.

The FMU WOULD work for you since you have the FPR, but you would need the inline to support the psi. With B you wont need the pump (Unless you want to grab a Walbro 255lph) and it has a lot more adjustability.

B will give you plenty of fuel w/ the larger injectors.

Thank you so much! I feel A LOT better now! Will the obd0 resistor work though since my car is obd1? Glad the SMC wasn't a mistake though...I knew it wasn't.

Thanks,

Yeah, I've had mine on for about a month, and I love it.

Yeah, you have to use the EF packs (or DIY) for any (OBD1 or 2). Since the injectors are peak/hold instead of saturated, they gotta have them.

This is the box I bought:

Should that one be OK?

Thanks,

I'm still a litlte iffy about the DSM injectors. I'm being told that if they don't fit right, I have to sand the washer, which acts like a seal. If I don't sand them right, they can leak. This is making me lean towards FMU/fuel pump. Damn injectors are scaring me! =\
