Default Having MSD problems on a car that i'm tuning.

Well i'm tuning my friend's car tonight with a damn MSD setup on it and after the car was running great for a while we turned it off and it wouldn't start for us. We weren't getting any spark. After a lot of fooling around we hit the MSD stuff a little and then for some reason when he held a screw driver up to the coil's wire it meracuously started. Now we have ran into the same problem again with it not wanting to start. Any idea whats going on? I hear this is a common problem with this stuff.

Hows it wired? I'm running a MSD 6AL with a blaster coil.

ever figure out what the deal was? Believe me his is taking it off now. Another friend of ours had the same exact problem as well. I kept telling him to not even put it on in the first place because i knew that we would have problems, but he just had to have that 2-step ...now we wasted a night of tuning because of it.

yeah.. i was on my way to the track, when all of the sudden my car just turned off on my on the hwy. i pulled over. checked things out, moved some wires, finally the car started.

went on my way to the track. was there waiting in line and when it was my turn to stage, car just died again. i couldn't figure out WTF was going on.

some friends came over and we push started the car and it started, so you may want to try that.

car stayed on, then when i moved it , it died. finally car stayed on for awhile so i took my chance and tried to make it home. car turned off once on the way home and the whole time it would hesitate here and there.

next day car started up just fine... was letting it idle, then .. died out. took off the msd stuff, put stock ignition stuff back on, car ran like a champ and never had any problems after that.

I had a similar problem with a 6AL unit too. Couldn't figure out why the car wouldn't start or why it would just die randomly. Switched to a Digital 6 and no problems whatsoever.

yea that sounds just like our problem. We were getting spark cutout in higher rpms, but it would only do it off and on. Also after jiggling around some of the msd stuff we'd be able to get it to start again.

I know the Blaster coil's are kinda junk.... well I think they had a bad batch of them cause I hat the same problems when I was running a blaster SS coil then switched to a Digital 7 and a HVCII coil and works great now
