Re: h-23 vtec frankensien (EJtypeR)
I have H23VTEC in my prelude and its fun to drive. In my civic I have built GSR turbo. I would honestly stay away from H series. I spun bearing on my motor few times when it was put together right.

your motor must have not been right if it spun a rod bearing.......H series make awesome power and down low to.

noone likes to agree with me i swear, no one thought my coupe would run a 14 let alone a 13.7. now none thinks i will be able to make power with a h23 -22 combo with boost, everone doubts me...well they got another thing coming. im thinking with 24 inch slicks and my h puting out 5-600hp ill see thier jaws drop. so to all you doubters you obviously havent been working on engines long...

H23 is ghey.Just bore your H22 1mm and you have a 2.3liter.Not worth the headache to go from a 2.2 to a 2.3 just from the block.

i was going to have low compression pisons and some strong rods and bearings. not really sure of what to go with yet.

H motor makes good power and torque, but you don't want to use the H23 bottom end. Rod to stroke isn't all that great and the same power can be had with the H22 bottom end. Best route is to deckplate H22 with custom rods, but that depends on your financials.

Yep. There are a few guys that run high horsepower h23 vtec's but a lot of guys that do it end up spinning bearings. It can be done but you need to do your research so you do it right the first time. Search in the prelude forum under archives... you'll find all the info you'll ever need.
