Having manual boost controller issues..
I've got a b18a1 turbocharged, running just an eBay 38mm external wastegate since my turbonetics one decided to seize. interesting that the eBay one works better
Anyway, i've got like a ~5psi spring in it and it holds 4-5psi on the gauge just fine all the way to redline, all day every day.. So I go to hook up a manual boost controller (which is brand new, never used) in the hopes of gaining to about 7-8psi with the boost controller turned all the way down, just one click up from the bottom as a few installation instructions said to do), but in the first gear that I floor the gas in it boost spikes (whether I start in 2nd, or 3rd) it will want to jump to 10-13+psi sometimes triggering boost cut because i'm on a stock MAP sensor. And then after I shift to the next gear the boost doesn't build back up. It stays at like 4psi and feels slower than it did on 4psi with no boost controller, until like 6500 rpm's it finally climbs back up to say around 7-8psi.. It sucks because when it holds about 10psi the thing hauls some serious ***. Also it feels like the turbo lags more with the boost controller on, does that typically happen or am I just overthinking it?
I've got a couple different wastegate springs laying around so i'm thinking of switching them out and trying to increase boost that way, but it's a pain in the *** to change my wastegate since it's under the turbo and everything...
