Haltech EMS
Hi guys,
I am up in the air about which ecu to run. Currently i am putting in a H22 in my Accord V6, headache in itself. I was originally going to go with the AEM, but i would have major wirirng harness overhauling to do such. So i did some researching and Haltech runs a "flying" lead wiring harness, which would be perfect for me. I know alot of overseas company's use the Haltech (australian Subby's, Rx-7's, NIssans), but i was wondering if anyone has it, or heard anything (good/bad) about it. From the website it seems like a really nice ecu (E11V2 model) and it priced really well. Any input would be appreciated.

i replaced mine with an AEM unit and paid to have all new harnesses and all of the "flying lead" stuff torn out. It's tough to find a good tuner, and if it craps out on you like mine did, you can't get parts.

Re: (mildly.interesting)
I will be doing the tuning, so i am not worried about that. Before it crapped out on you was it running good, equivalent or better then the AEM? What kind of issues did you have?

Re: (2001accord)
haltec is like an etchasketch compared to damn near anything else on the market.... i have tuned several and honestly, i wont do it again.
you can get the universal ems that has a flying lead harness, but if you really want to rip everything out of the car, id recomend getting a 96-98 civic wiring harness, all 3 plugs that goto the ecu are built into the harness, there is one small plug that goes to the dash that you'd need to wire up.. but thats no big deal, you only need a few of thsoe wires.

Re: (JDogg)
the new halwin x software sounds/looks pretty decent. The AEM universal is near $3400 when all said and done. I contacted Frog Engine and they said they could do a harness for $450-550 but then you have to add the AEM ($1850) to that, when the haltech is $1600 with lead and sensor pack. I am trying to go the cheapest and least amount of headaches route. If i had $2500 to blow i would just do the harness and the AEM, but i already dropped damn near $15K on the motor/trans, so its time to conserve something.

yeah, like i said though... doing a 1020 ems and using a 96-98 civic harness would be the easiest by far... just mod the harness to fit the h22, wire up the like 10 extra wires in the green plug and you're done.
