hahn 16g on d16z6
Hey guys ive got a hatch with a built block (vitara/eagle) and i had a turbonetics 60-1 on it and really didnt like the powerband so i decided to switch.
I swapped it to a buddy for his hahn 16g (t3 flanged) its got the 10cm exhaust housing, and in excellent shape, ive street tuned it to 20 psi, and it honestly feels like it pulls harder than the 60-1 did.
The 60-1 setup dynoed at 280whp and 210wtq on a dyno dynamics, which seemed very low to me at 21 psi...
My question is, what do u guys think this turbo is capable of hp wise??? My head is 100% stock other htan the arp headstuds... Thanks for any input...
oh and Hahn claims this turbo to flow 45 lbs...

Re: hahn 16g on d16z6 (turbociviccoupe)
well i was told that dd dynos read REALLY low to start with, and that my dynojet number would be more aroudn 320-330...
im planning on dynoing thecar again really soon, just curious whether or not this turbo will make 400whp???

I don't think the Hahn 16g will make 400whp. The evo3 Big 16g will get you there closer and spool quicker, but remember that DSMs are 2.0L, and have boost friendly CR's (7.8-8.5 CR).
The 10cm^2 exhaust housing on the Hahn turbos make for more lag, but on the other hand, is capable of higher rpms w/o choking. The difference you feel from this smaller turbo compared to your 60-1 is the increased powerband (more area under the curve, instead of higher peak numbers).
Got a graph of the 60-1 dyno numbers? I'm curious as to when it started spooling. 280whp @ 21psi means that there might be something wrong with your setup. Figure that out first and work from there.

Re: hahn 16g on d16z6 (Finest)
well a 60-1 on a stock head/intakemanifold z6 seems to be a problem from what ive heard, heard that from geoff at full-race and several o theres, that 60-1+d16 dont mix well for some reason???
this turbo is supposed to be BIGGER than an evo3 16g by a little, supposedly compared to a evo 8 16g in flow numbers...
and it for sure DOESNT choke out up top, flows excellent...
timing was fairly conservative since this was on pump gas, pretty sure total timing was at 5*@21 psi (i tuned it but kind of been a while so i forgot what timing was at)
the car made only 210 tq with that turbo, which i also thought might have been an issue, i do enjoy the larger powerband tho... i called hahn and the man i spoke with told me on a 2.0 liter they typically see 350whp@ 25psi out of this turbo, which seems decent to me...

Re: (jarvis199)
wonder waht the pump gas limits are on this thing??? i was thinking about on the next dyno trip bumping it to 25psi and tuning it as safe as possible, low timing and see if i can hit 350 with it...
this is my daily driver tho lol, i guess i should be careful!

make sure to do springs/retainers at least before throwing alot of boost on old parts.. but a 16g can flow to 350hp-400 tops.

Re: hahn 16g on d16z6 (sohc_turd)
thats me, its not a top mount, its just a little equal length thing i did, not pretty, but seems to work good!!!!
hoping to go back in a few weeks, open cutout, 20psi, 59300 camshaft and edelbrock manifold... hoping for 350 from all that, not sure how thatll work out tho...
