guys with the VAFC hack? just a simple question
I have researched the VAFC hack topic and i know all the ins and outs of how to do it but i was wondering how is the overall drivability with it.
I saw somewhere that there is a hesitation that no one seems to be able to fix, is this an annoying problm or will i just get used to it. Is that the only problem or is there anything else.
Give some feedback. I have just recently acquired some funds (financial aid kick ***!!) and i am going to go ahead and bite the bullet and start on my turbo project for my D16. Hondata is def in the future but not right now. I just want something that has works for the time being.
TIA

if you don't have any parts for the afc hack already...then just go ahed and buy the hondata it will be just a bit more...
for the afc hack it hesitates from 3k to 4k (if i'm cruising around that rpm then floor it) but other then that it's good....hard to start sometimes)

Mine doesn't hesitate but around 5% throttle or less while cruising I hit what feels like a "fuel cut off" but thats because big injectors + small signal from stock ecu = injectors shutting off, starting up, shutting off.... its really a insignificant problem but still is a tad annoying...

Hey shadowdawn, have you tried adding back a little fuel at idle to beef up the MAP signal so you don't get that annoying injector shutdown. I bet the closed loop logic will compensate and you're idle will be fine. I use a -20% cut at idle.
Problem is running at 8-9psi doinga -20% cut anywhere means your GONNA trip a CEL for map.... I'm worried enough (but luckily havent gotten a code 3) that I have -33% at 3000-4000rpms...
Honestly putting the % up or down at "idle" or 1000rpms didn't do ANYTHING to my idle, whether it be at -30% or -40% my idle was the same (smooth)...

Exactly that's what I'm saying. Use a 20% cut but only at idle and use the -35 to 40% everywhere else. You won't throw a CEL if you only use the -20% at idle, it won't affect your idle because the ECU is in closed loop, but it will raise the voltage that the ECU "sees" at full vacuum so that your injectors won't shut down. If the ECU thinks there is a real high vacuum at speed it assumes you're going down hill and it shuts off the injectors to save fuel.
Unless you are saying that putting a -20% cut in at idle and -40% everywhere else gives you a CEL. In which case I'm full of ****.

do you guys running the hack have trouble starting your cars sometimes??? Mine is a bitch since i put the Hack in place, Cant get it to idle unless i have it at about -25% and its starts badly.

Sometimes its takes a extra crank or 2 to get it going, this usually only happens after I drove the car for sometime, let it sit for 15mins or less and start her up again.
