what range of spark plugs are you using? currently i am running ngk 9's and the car seem to break up very bad when i make a run within 10-15 mins of the first run. it is gapped at .020". what would you guys recommend?

you could always try a 10 series plug.

do you by any chance have an ignition system other than stock on the car? which plug wires are you running?

that does not sound like a plug issue.we run 9's gapped at .28 with over 700 hp.we had the same problem which turned out to be an alternator issue.

9 series are fine, even 8's will probably do the trick, but i normally recommend 9's
