Default Guage installation

Can someone describe to me exactly how an a/f (autometer) guage is installed on an integra? a.k.a. where do the wires attach and how...or just direct me to a site where they explain. thanks!

red - switched 12v power
black - ground
purple - signal - either to the O2 signal wire to the ECU(I think it's the fat white one), or directly to the O2.

I believe I stripped the end of the red wire and crammed it into the ignition fuse, black (ground), I soldered a metal U to the wire and ran it under a screw (needs to be metal against the chassis), and purple was spliced into the white o2 wire coming out of the ECU (check manual for which one).
