Default GTX3582R question

Hi guys,
i have a normal gt35r made by garret that i originally got with 0.63ar when i got my full race turbo kit a few years back. i even upgraded the turbine from 0.63ar to 0.82ar, so in other words i have standard gt35r with a 0.82ar housing. now for the questions:

1- can i replace the CHRA of my current turbo with the gtx3582r?
2- will the gtx3582r CHRA be plug n play?
3- is there a difference between the standard compressor size on the gt35r when compared with the gtx3582r compressor?

i am debating in getting a 750hp turbo and would like to reuse as many parts as i can. until now all i found out that my old turbine (0.82ar) will fit on the gtx3582r CHRA!

let me know guys!

Why would you need to swap over the CHRA ? The center sections and bearings are the same between the two turbos the difference is the compressor wheel which is billet 11 blade which the new design is where the power increase comes from over the standard gt35r. If your trying to convert yours to a gtx then you would need the billet wheel and comp housing. I think the backplate would be the same. This would need to be balanced and i would recommend sending it to a certified dealer in order to have it done properly. Speed trap consultants or gpopshop could do the upgrade for you properly

The original compressor and turbine housings won't work due to changes in wheel sizes and profiles on the gtx turbo

I thought the exhaust wheel stayed the same and only compressor wheel was changed

Both GTX and GT3582's list the same 68mm @ 84 trim turbine.
But GTX compressor wheel is larger than its older brother, inducer and exducer.

The standard gt3582r , gtx3576r and gtx3582r all use the same exact turbine wheel so all the turbine housing is interchangeable.

Even though they name the gtx3582r and they say the exducer is 82mm. The 11 billet compressor wheels inducer and exducer is actually about .5mm bigger than a normal gt3582r. You you would need the gtx3582 compressor wheel as well as the compressor housing and backplate.

Forcedperformance.com and pureturbos.com are a few shops that come to mind that do these types or conversions for about $500 or so.

You can machine the backplate for the larger exducer without issue

It's a matter of which route is cheapest

Pure turbos has NOTHING on Forced Performance when it comes to the quality of their compressor wheels. T6 6061 over the T3 2024 stuff that it seems like they use. I'll see if I can get some exact types for the Pure turbos, but it sure felt like it would flex like a T3 2024 ...

The two companies couldn't be more different.

I asked and they said their wheels are 6061

But pure turbos is known for rebuilding diesel turbos, that's how they started and earned a reputation they've just recently started making "performance turbos" and they are rebuilds from what I've seen they just have a new billet compressor wheel

And just as a side note/random fact... Precision has the lightest billet wheels on the market at the moment

So they say... (Of course this is pot calling the kettle black here.)

Also, lightest doesn't always mean better. If it were better, they wouldn't deflect the way they do.
